Stone Age Story
Logline:
“Two cavemen seek to leave behind their history through more than mere cave-Paintings. So instead, they create a groundbreaking machine that will tell their tale like no other.”
Story:
At the end of a long day, a short and rather stubby caveman records what he has accomplished in a cave mural. He asks his fellow, taller, lankier cave man what he thinks about his work. His friend, shrugs his shoulders none too impressed. At hearing this the shorter caveman becomes outraged. Then, the taller caveman reveals to his friend a discovery that he has made. He holds in front of him a stack of stone slabs with crude drawings on them. He drops them one by one by one, revealing the stone slabs further and further back each slab containing another crude drawing that seemed to have been done in succession. It was moving! At seeing this the shorter caveman jumps for joy at the discovery that his companion had made! “Where’s the rest?” asks the shorter caveman. Again, the taller caveman shrugs his shoulders as if to say “No more.” Turning his back on his friend, disappointed and surprised that he should expect anything more, he grumbles to himself. Then an idea hits him! They would find a way to leave their history through their new-found, brilliant discovery: Animation.
Characters:
Shorter Caveman
The first main character of the story is the short, stocky caveman. We are first introduced to him at the beginning of the short as he adds his final touches to his cave mural. In a nutshell, this character naturally lives by the saying “Look before you leap.” The short caveman is the more responsible and smarter of the pair. He pulls his own weight and the slack of his partner. He always keeps in mind the bigger picture and makes it a good habit to analyze all the details. He has somewhat of a short temper and finds himself constantly getting hurt at the expense of his clumsy companion. He greatly underestimates his roommate due to his lack of sensibility and incredibly short attention span.
Taller Caveman
The second main character of the story is the tall, lanky Caveman. We are first introduced to him as he gives his opinion about the shorter caveman’s mural. In a nutshell, this character is summed up as the type that “leaps without looking.” The shorter caveman is the dumber and clumsier of the two. He doesn’t seem to get mad or show any emotions other than confusion and happiness. All he really concerns himself with is what is at hand and never the bigger picture. He tends to get distracted disturbingly easy and slacks off not due to his lack of commitment but lack of common sense, ethic, and short attention span. He greatly appreciates his friend and values nothing more than their friendship.
